Do you need a break?
With the current outbreak of Coronavirus, we all have to stay at home to stop the virus spreading. We’re all doing a great job of it, but it can be difficult to get away from it all, right?
Well, with simple meditation techniques like the one i’m going to show you, its easy to visualise your favourite place and spend some time without a care in the world, with your loved ones, in total relaxation.
So, when you have a spare half hour (when you get the technique right you’ll be able to do it for longer), find a comfortable place to sit, away from distractions, pop on some chilled music and drift away….
Comfortable? Lets begin...
Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Breathe in through your nose for 3 seconds, hold for 4, and exhale through your mouth for 7. Repeat it a few times until you feel yourself relaxing. Really focus on the breath going through your nose, into your lungs, filling your body with wonderful fresh air and positivity, and then letting go of any negativity and tension that you’ve been feeling.
Next, imagine the ideal place you’d like to be right now, it could be real or imaginary but it should be somewhere you will find restful, calming, safe and happy. For me its by a peaceful lakeside, with the soft breeze blowing against my skin, my dog and partner sleeping by my side. Imagine your chosen place in as much detail as you can, use your senses to make it as real as possible, what can you see, hear, smell and feel?
Keep your breathing slow and regular, and keep on focussing on your relaxation place in all its detail. Do this exercise for 10 to 20 minutes, or as long as is comfortable. Then slowly bring your focus back to wherever you are and open your eyes.
